Diary Entry: Testing, Tweaking… and a Tiny Vibration Friend?

  • Okay, confession time: I’ve been leaning on Mag 07 for far too long to keep things moving 💨 (if you know, you know). But it's really not meant for everyday use—so I'm testing out acacia fibre as a gentler, more sustainable replacement. Early signs? Promising! Less drama, more regularity.

  • And then there’s this new little gadget I’ve strapped to my wrist: Apollo Neuro. It gently vibrates to calm your nervous system—basically a wearable hug telling your body, “Shh, it’s okay, you’re safe.” 💓

I think it’s helping—I’ve slept better this week and love how it feels during the day. But let me be honest: the app is confusing, the modes never seem to match what I scheduled, and—wait for it—they want a subscription for the upgraded features. After nearly £300?! No thank you. It either works out of the box or it's catching a one-way trip back.

    Still testing... stay tuned!”

Dancing, Gin, and a Histamine Hangover: My Weekend Detox Drama

  • Had a dance marathon with hubby Saturday night... and now my histamine is throwing a tantrum. 2 day headache? Oh yes. Thanks, sneaky tomato, chocolate, sourdough, gin and late-night chaos.🤢

  • On the bright side, acacia fibre is my new BFF — two big scoops a day and my gut is happier than I am on the dancefloor!

  • Apollo Neuro is still a total mystery. I seriously need to contact them because I have no idea how it actually works!
Today, some random 'Recover' mode started buzzing — not even one I scheduled. Maybe it just knew I needed rescuing?😂

30th April 2025

Histamine Hangover, Magic Nettle Tea & the Apollo That Won’t Quit Buzzing

  • My histamine hangover hit hard—headache for two whole days but even worse at night. I downed buckets of organic nettle tea on day 2, like a woman on a mission , and boom—on day 3, I felt like a brand new human. Magic leaf powers, activate!

  • Upped my Acacia fibre to 3 heaped tablespoons—easing in slowly to avoid any windy surprises. It's gentle and keeps things moving... but let’s be real, it’s no Mag 07. Still keeping that one in the emergency holiday kit!

  • The Apollo Neuro drama continues. Still not pairing properly. It’s vibing on its own schedule—mood ring style. Might rope someone in today to help figure it out. Customer service is sweet, but I’m suspicious this gadget’s got a mind of its own. If it is faulty, maybe I can blag a free subscription? Worth a try 😉

Low Sugar, gluten-free, no Seed Oils & Actually Delicious? Meet My Favorite Clean Snack Bars!

  • Big win: found gluten-free, seed oil-free, low sugar snack bars that actually taste good (yes, really!). I’ll use them for when I’m away from home. Doves Freee organic gluten free oat bars:

     Banana & Chocolate

     Chocolate Chip

     Apricot with Chia

     Apple with Sultanas

😲 They have a cranberry one but it has sunflower oil !!!

No ad. Just a happy, snacky Izzy

DAOfood vs NATURDAO: My Real-Life Histamine Experiment Begins!

  • Trying out a new brand of DAO enzyme (that’s diamine oxidase — the enzyme that helps break down histamine before it causes chaos).

The one I’ve been using is called NATURDAO Plus, and it’s plant-based. It works pretty well — but I’ve heard that animal-based versions can work even better for some people, so... I’m switching it up!

The new one I’m testing is called DAOfood Plus. Same purpose, slightly different source. No harm in experimenting, right? Especially if it means fewer histamine headaches and mystery symptoms.

I’ll report back once I see how my body responds — fingers crossed for even better nights, clear sinuses, and being able to have some normal food like tomatoes without the body freaking out!

  • Spent 1 hour with help,  trying to pair up the Apollo Neuro. It didn’t. It has to be faulty. I have asked for them to swap it for another one. It’s doing my head in.

7th May 2025

Biohacking Buzz & Fiber Flops: My Latest Experiments

  • So... the Apollo Neuro saga continues. I thought it was faulty (and maybe I just wanted it to be?), but apparently, it’s not broken—it’s just built that way. 😅 According to the support team, when you pair it with your phone, it’s totally normal for nothing to show up on the device itself. Hmmm. Still not 100% sold that mine is working as it should, though.

That said, rumor has it they’re gearing up to launch a fancy new upgraded version soon (with a not-so-fancy price tag), so fingers crossed they iron out the kinks!

  • And on the gut-healing front: remember how excited I was about acacia fiber? Yeah… I may have hyped it up a bit too much. 🙈 It’s fine, but not the miracle gut-smoothing magic dust I was hoping for. Let’s just say... the search continues! Maybe I’m just holding out for a miracle here—but I want perfection, okay?

Things are flowing fine, but twice a day? That’s the dream. 😏 I know three people (three!!) who are that regular and yes, I’m wildly jealous. Like, "teach me your ways, O Digestive Gods" kinda jealous.

  • As for the DAOfood Plus (you know, the DAO enzyme that’s supposed to munch down histamine from food like a pro?)... hmm. Honestly? Not noticing a massive difference from my last one—NATURDAO Plus. In fact, I’m starting to suspect the old one might’ve worked a bit better. 🤷‍♀️ Hard to tell for sure, so I’m giving it a little longer before making the final judgment call.

I should feel something if it’s breaking down histamine on the spot, right? Will report back soon—hopefully from the throne room of digestive victory.

Testing herbs, supplements and gadgets to optimize health.

15th May 2025

  • Here’s my conclusion on the Apollo Nero: I might not completely understand how to link it to its schedule and the battery life is a bit short, but honestly, I can't imagine living without it!

  • Recovery mode is the default setting, and that's super handy for us busy bees. Plus, when I connect it to my phone (if I’m bothered to), I can switch it up with other modes like sleep, relax, focus, and more. It’s very relaxing and satisfying to feel the vibration. I miss it when it’s charging. 🌟 So, I’m keeping it!

20th May2025

  • Choosing between DAOfood Plus and NATURDAO Plus is difficult but NATURDAO Plus has an edge. You only need to take it 5 minutes before meals, making it perfect for holiday and unexpected dining. In contrast, DAOfood Plus requires 20 minutes of prep, which can be tricky.

Is Any Amount of Alcohol Safe? Science Says... Nope.😭

  • Nooooooooooo! Today I am the bearer of bad news.

Research is showing that there is no safe amount of alcohol for your health. It was all lies!

Don’t shoot me. I’m just the messenger.

So, here goes (I’ll keep it short and simple to get it over and done with quickly):

Q: Is Moderate Drinking Safe for Your Brain?

A: Short answer: Nope.

Q: Is moderate drinking really harmful?

A: Yes. Even “moderate” drinking (that’s 7 or fewer drinks per week) increases your risk of brain damage by 60%.
It raises your chances of developing vascular brain lesions—tiny blockages that cut off blood and oxygen to your brain. The result?

Cognitive decline, foggy thinking, and memory slip-ups over time.

Q: Does quitting alcohol undo the damage?

A: Sadly, no. Former heavy drinkers had:

  • More brain lesions

  • Smaller brain mass

  • Worse memory + cognitive scores
The damage sticks around, even years after you quit. Alcohol’s impact is cumulative and long-lasting.

Q: What does alcohol actually do to your brain?

A: It causes:

  • Hyaline arteriolosclerosis (yep, that’s a mouthful) — basically, your brain’s tiny blood vessels harden and narrow

  • Tau tangles — protein clumps linked to Alzheimer’s
Result? Your brain shrinks, your memory fades, and everyday thinking gets harder.

Q: Is there any safe amount of alcohol for brain health?

A: Nope. A massive study of 313,958 people found no safe level of alcohol when it comes to dementia risk.
Risk goes up with every drink, no matter how light the pour.

Bottom Line:

Even that “just one glass” habit could be shrinking your brain.
Want to stay sharp as you age? Go dry — your future self will thank you.

  • Dr. Mercola advises taking N-acetylcysteine (NAC) before and after occasional alcohol use — If you are going to drink for an upcoming wedding, holiday, or reunion with friends, NAC is your backup plan. It supports your liver's ability to neutralize acetaldehyde, the toxic byproduct of alcohol metabolism that damages DNA.

Take a 200-milligram dose 30 minutes before drinking alongside vitamins B1 and B6, as these nutrients also help reduce the toxic side effects of alcohol.

Drinking clean alcohol by the beach

2nd June 2025

Back from Portugal — and My Histamine Tolerance Took a Holiday Too!

Just got back from a dreamy week in Portugal (yes, fresh photos coming!). Sunshine, sea air, and… my very first real brush with histamine overload. 😬

I skipped the wine , because even a few sips send my histamine levels spiraling these days. Instead, I sipped my clean cocktails: gin or vodka with sparkling water, plus my trusty travel sidekicks — blackcurrant & ginger powder + a little stevia. Yes, I’m that girl who brings her own drink mix. #HistamineHacks 😎

Everything was fabulous for a few days — until one glorious dinner of traditional Portuguese deliciousness:

-Shellfish rice (hello, tomato sauce)
-Aged sheep cheese (high-histamine but so worth it)
-Snails, cooked the authentic Portuguese way (yes, I’m weird)
-Clean vodka with fizzy water and stevia-still alcohol.

...and probably a dozen other sneaky histamine bombs.

Let’s just say... my body filed a formal complaint. 🥴

Histamine sensitivity is no joke — even on holiday! So now I know: a little is manageable, but a full-on feast? Nope. Lesson learned (again).

Now a few extra pounds and a glass full of histamine later it’s time for my routine again which I also enjoy strangely enough! Maybe because I have found alternative nice foods that do the job of keeping me fit and happy without nasty side effects.

Back to my buckwheat noodles with pesto sauce and garlic, parsley and spring onions. This is my late lunch at about 2 p.m.  Maybe an egg or two with it. And maybeeee a little bit( a square or 2 or…. 3 or…….4 of that Hu chocolate Hazelnut butter dark chocolate. Mmmm. This is usually my biggest meal.

For dinner, at 5/6 p.m. I have just meat or fish with cooked veg or salad. If I’m still hungry I have some berries or macadamia nuts (which are actually seeds not nuts!)

My favorite reset button when I’ve indulged just a tiny bit too much is the intermittent fasting. It’s simple, sustainable, and totally histamine-friendly.

Confession Time: There Is One Chemical I Take...

Okay, okay — I lied, friends! 😅 and you’ll never guess what it is…

It’s a tablet for flying. Yep. That’s my “guilty” chemical pleasure. #TrueStory

And thank goodness I took it — because on the flight home, just as we were about to land (already over the runway!), the engines suddenly roared to life and the plane started climbing again!

A few dramatic minutes later, the pilot casually informs us:

“Uhh… there was another plane on the runway. So we had to go around.”
Ummm, WHAT?! 😳

Nearly 60 with long hair. Is it age appropriate some ask?

Change of subject:

At nearly 60, I Finally Grew the Hair They Said I Shouldn’t Have😉

  • All my life my mum said long hair didn’t suit me and I never had it past shoulder length. And now, at nearly 60, when it’s not supposed to suit women that age, is when I am wearing it long. So there!

5th June 2025

I’m trying something new for the histamine overload/sensitivity:

  • SAMe (S-adenosylmethionine). It supports methylation, a process your body uses to break down excess histamine. If your methylation pathways are sluggish—hello, midlife stress and genetics—histamine can build up and trigger everything from headaches and hives to hormone havoc.

By boosting SAMe levels, you're helping your body detox histamine more efficiently, potentially easing symptoms like bloating, anxiety, and itchy skin. Apparently it has actually helped people according to a group chat I looked at.

But here’s the playful twist: SAMe isn't for everyone. If you're undermethylated, it might help. If you're overmethylated, it could backfire. Always best to start low and go slow which is what I will do starting today. 🤞

10th June

Trying SAMe for Histamine Overload: Can It Help My Midlife Symptoms?

  • Been taking the SAMe (S-adenosylmethionine) for a few days and upping the dosage every day. What it says on the bottle is less than the treating dosage. If I took what it says nothing different would happen.  200mg is to treat but it is recommended to go slow and build up to it as it can cause anxiety, irritability, insomnia. Nothing to report yet.

Candida Overgrowth Returns: Signs, Symptoms & My Midlife Detox Plan

Sooooooo annoyed….

I’ve discovered (cue the dramatic music)… Candida albicans is back in my body. Yep, that sneaky little yeast that overgrows when the conditions are right—and then makes your life itchy, cranky, foggy, and a little funky (in every way).

The Signs Were There… And Not So Subtle 😳

Let me tell you how I knew:

  • There was a funky smell in my wee (yes, sorry, TMI but also: bodies are real and weird sometimes).

  • I had some irritation in the genital area (sorry again, but honesty heals!).

  • And then I did the infamous Candida spit test. (Final “sorry” here, I promise!) If you don’t know it: you spit into a glass of water first thing in the morning before eating, drinking, or brushing. If the spit sinks, grows legs, or hangs around like cobwebs—bingo. You’ve got yeast overgrowth.

  • I also noticed a white-coated tongue, which is basically Candida's way of waving a flag and saying, “We’re still here!”

So yeah. Not exactly glamorous. But very educational.

What Even IS Candida albicans ?

Candida albicans is a naturally occurring yeast in the body, mostly chilling in the gut, mouth, skin, and down there. But when it overgrows—due to antibiotics, sugar, stress, or hormone changes (hello perimenopause and beyond)—it can take over and cause all kinds of symptoms.

My Detox Weekend: When Things Got Weird

The weekend before last, I did a short but mighty detox. And oh boy—things started shifting fast. I believe I disrupted some Candida biofilms (those slimy little fortresses Candida builds to protect itself). When that happens, the yeast dies off, and BAM—you enter the wild ride of what’s known as Candida Die-Off.

Candida Die-Off Symptoms: Blame the Toxins, Not Yourself

When yeast dies, it doesn’t go quietly. It releases over 70 known toxins into your system, including some real villains:

  • Acetaldehyde – causes fatigue, foggy brain, irritability (and is also found in alcohol—no wonder you feel hungover).

  • Ammonia – contributes to brain fog and body aches.

  • Uric acid – can inflame your joints and make you feel stiff and sore.

  • Ethanol – yep, Candida actually produces its own alcohol, which explains dizziness and fatigue.

These nasty little substances flood your system and create what’s known as a Herxheimer reaction (aka detox overload). Common die-off symptoms include:

  • Headaches

  • Foggy brain

  • Exhaustion

  • Irritability

  • Sugar cravings (Candida is basically screaming, “Feed me!”)

Why Sugar Cravings Happen During Die-Off

Candida feeds on all kinds of sugar—from white sugar and carbs to honey, fruit, and even alcohol. When it starts dying, it panics and begs for sugar like a toddler at a candy store. Don’t give in! Feeding it just fuels the fire.

Moral of the Story?

Listen to your body—even the awkward, unglamorous signs. If you’re dealing with foggy brain, sugar cravings, and other weirdness after a detox or sugar cleanse, it might not just be you—it might be Candida. And with the right approach, you can kick it to the curb.

What I’m Doing Now for the Candida:

SAMe drops when I wake up-for the histamine. To boost methylation. Not directly related to the candida issue.

Black coffee- 30 minutes later. Important to keep things flowing ;)

Biofilm breaker - 30 minutes later - serrapeptase (I choose this one). Garlic is good for E.Coli biofilms but doesn’t work so well with Candida biofilms.

Antifungal-30 minutes later. e.g. Caprylic acid, undecylenic acidberberine, oregano oil. I chose oregano oil as I already have it. Also good to rotate them. With breakfast.

Binder- SUPER IMPORTANT to avoid or minimise the die-off symptoms: Zeolite or bentonite clay (food grade) or activated charcoal. 2 hours after a meal or 30 minutes before.

Hydration- Also super important- to flush the toxins candida expels when dying and to make sure you don’t get constipated by the binders. I am drinking loads of nettle tea which is also good for flushing the histamine.

Liver detoxifier-e.g. pau d’arco, milk thistle, dandelion root, artichoke leaf, turmeric. There are lots. I’m using NAC. My liver is now working very hard. NAC 2 hours after meal or 30 minutes before.

Cutting sugar & refined carbs: Brutal but necessary (only temporary).

Probiotics: Rebuilding the good guys in my gut. I’m taking saccharomyces boulardii. It’s perfect alongside anti-fungals and low in histamine.

A short explanation required here:

Candida overgrowth and histamine overload are linked because Candida disrupts gut health, which is key to histamine regulation. Here's how:

  1. Candida damages the gut lining, reducing DAO enzyme production—the enzyme that breaks down histamine.

  2. It alters the gut microbiome, increasing histamine-producing bacteria and decreasing histamine-degrading ones.

  3. Candida toxins (like acetaldehyde and ammonia) burden the liver, slowing histamine clearance.

  4. It contributes to leaky gut, which triggers immune responses and histamine release.

  5. Candida can activate mast cells, which dump even more histamine into the system.

So, if you’ve got itchy skin, bloating, anxiety, or food reactions and Candida—histamine may be part of the problem.

Candida Cleanse Update: Day 2 and Already Feeling Better (Festival Incoming!)

After just two days on my anti-Candida + anti-histamine protocol, guess what? I actually feel so much better already

The brain fog has lifted, the weird itchiness is gone, and my energy (while a bit tired) is on the up. I’m honestly shocked—in a good way!

I’ve been sticking to my plan:
✔️ SAMe in the morning
✔️ Coffee (makes me flow ;)
✔️ Biofilm breakers
✔️ Oregano oil as my antifungal
✔️ A trusty binder to sweep out the toxins
✔️ Loads of nettle tea to flush, flush, flush

And yes, I’ve seriously cut down on sugar, including most fruits (RIP peaches 😢). But I’m still having raspberries and blueberries—low-sugar queens that won’t feed the beast (aka Candida albicans).

My plan?

Keep going until my pee smells normal again (sorry, but it’s a real sign!)

And until my tongue is no longer coated white and I pass the spit test.

Because let’s be honest—why half-ass a cleanse when I could feel fantastic on the other side?

I will pause the protocol for one glorious Festival day—because life is for living and dancing and maybe having one cheeky gin. Or two ;)

But who knows… if I do this properly, I might not just clear out Candida—I might also solve my histamine sensitivity along the way. Wouldn’t that be a fabulous plot twist?

Stay tuned. This could be the beginning of the end for Candida—and the start of a whole new me

Festival Fun in the Middle of a Candida Detox? Worth It! (Mostly...)

Loved the Festival. Sooooo good.  Not ideal in the middle of a candida detox but life’s not perfect. It really took it out of me though. Will need some recovering. Two days later and I am feeling nearly normal again so now I’m carrying on with my detox.

Is it me or is it really clammy? Phew!

Candida Detox Burnout Is Real: Why I'm Scaling Back to Stay Sane (and Alive!)

Finding this Candida detox business quite hard when using normal dosages as the die-off symptoms are brutal. The extreme fatigue it brings and brain fog makes it tough to keep working with half a brain even! Scaling it back now (reducing dosages) so I’m still doing it but managing to still feel alive.

You just have to work it out for yourself how you feel and adjust accordingly.

My Candida protocol at the moment easing into my 1 week holiday has changed to this (this is a light version for no detox symptoms):

  • SAMe on an empty stomach (for methylation).

  • (No biofilm busters at the moment).

  • Anti fungal Caprylic acid with breakfast.

  • Probiotic saccharomyces boulardii. Some experts say 30-60 minutes before food. (Others say ok with food) But definitely 2 hours away from an anti-fungal.

  • Vitamin C with breakfast.

  • 2 hours later zeolite (binder) on empty stomach.

  • Lots of nettle tea throughout the day.

  • NAC on an empty stomach at any point of the day.

Magnesium citrate or Mag 07 in the evening- to get things flowing.

Going on holiday for a week soon and I will still do the detox but with even lower dosage so I can still enjoy my hoilday in the Azores. Hoping to get some nice photos there ;)

I’m back and what a lovely holiday I had. Quite a few extra pounds but holidays are not for rules. I am actually looking forward to getting back to my routine as I do feel better for it.

Have you heard about grains of paradise?

Grains of paradise are aromatic seeds from the ginger family, used as a spice with a peppery, slightly citrusy flavor. They're known for boosting metabolism, aiding digestion, and supporting weight loss.

I’m going to trying that when they arrive. Until then, having ginger every day.

Volcanic Water & Peeling Palms: A Post-Holiday Skin Surprise

Peeling Palms? Blame It on the Volcano

So this is a first: my palms are peeling like crazy! No itchiness, no redness—just skin flaking off in sheets. Super weird.

I’m pretty sure it’s from those volcanic hot springs I soaked in over the holidays. Apparently it can happen! The water was amazing—mineral-rich, steamy, and totally dreamy—but maybe a bit too intense for my skin barrier.

It’s never happened before, but honestly? Totally worth it. Here’s hoping my hands bounce back soon… and next time, maybe I’ll moisturize before taking a dip in nature’s spa. 😉

Vulcanic hot water in Azores with sulfur and iron.

Day 9 of My Candida + Histamine Detox: Slow & Steady Wins the Gut Game

It’s Day 9 of my Candida and histamine detox, and yep—I’m still taking it slow. Why? Because going too fast messes with my sleep .

Sleep’s a bit off, but during the day I’m feeling okay-ish. I’ve got that dull pressurey headache behind the eyes and some heaviness—but hey, that could also be thanks to this super humid, low-pressure weather.

This is where the phrase “plough on” comes in strong. Healing isn’t linear—especially when you're navigating gut health, histamine flares, and Candida die-off. But small wins add up.

10th July

When “Die-Off” Hits Hard 😵‍💫

Slowing things down over here on my Candida cleanse. I had to really dial back the detox—my brain feels foggy, sleep is a mess, and I’ve got that dull “ugh” headache. Classic die-off symptoms, right?

So I’m hitting pause on the undecylenic acid (my antifungal weapon of choice) for now. I’ll ease back in every other day once I’m feeling more human again.

Still going strong with:

  • Zeolite (my trusty binder for mopping up toxins)

  • Saccharomyces boulardii – a powerhouse probiotic yeast that helps crowd out Candida, breaks its defenses, supports immunity, and protects the gut.

Oh—and the flushing is REAL. Sweating it all out, literally. 💦

Detox isn't always pretty, but it's progress. Sometimes, you’ve gotta slow down to glow up.

Low Histamine Lunch Hack: Coconut Wraps You Can Fill with Anything You Love

Coconut Wrap Comeback!

I totally forgot how amazing coconut wraps are—until now. I love the 2-ingredient organic ones (just coconut meat + water or coconut flour). They vanished from my usual online shop, and out of sight = out of mind... until I found them again and boom! Instant lunch magic.

These wraps are perfect for low histamine, gluten-free, seed oil-free eating, and you can load them up with all the good stuff:

  • Biona organic green pesto made with olive oil

  • Avocado or olive oil mayo from Hunter & Gather (so good!)

  • Soft organic cheeses like sheep, goat, ricotta, or any fresh low-histamine cheese

  • Your favorite veg mix—spring onions are a non-negotiable for me

  • Add in clean protein like meat, fish, or eggs—totally up to you

It’s satisfying, clean, and delicious—and my histamine-sensitive body loves it. Definitely putting these wraps back in regular rotation! They are filling and delish!

A Little Bird (and TCM) Told Me to Try Schisandra… and WOW

I thought I had cracked the code on my sleep routine — and honestly, it has improved so much lately. But there was still this one stubborn piece of the puzzle: those occasional night sweats that wake me up at 3 a.m., just long enough to be annoying.

They’re not full-blown hot flashes, and thankfully I can usually fall back asleep pretty quickly. But still… disrupted sleep is disrupted sleep, and at 58 with histamine sensitivity and Candida, I know my body doesn’t just do random for no reason.

So—enter stage left: Schisandra berry powder.

A little bird (okay, a very nerdy wellness book) suggested I give this ancient adaptogenic liver-supporting herb a try. And guess what? Last night, I added a small amount of Schisandra powder to my usual sleepy-time herb blend... and for the first time in ages, I don’t think I had any night sweats at all.

And no — it wasn’t because the room was cooler. Same temperature, same routine. The only change? Schisandra.

So now I’m officially curious.

Could this be the missing link for hormone-driven sleep disturbances in midlife women? Is this little berry the secret weapon for balancing stress, supporting detox, and calming histamine flare-ups that disrupt our precious beauty sleep?

I’ll be experimenting more and reporting back, but so far?
Schisandra for night sweats and deeper sleep = a very promising yes.

Stay tuned… and sleep sweet. 💤
(And if you’ve tried it too — I want to hear your story!)

(FYI) Shisandra Benefits:

Cooling, Astringent Properties That Reduce Night Sweats

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Schisandra is known as a “five-flavor fruit” and is classified as both astringent and cooling. That means it helps hold in body fluids, reduce excessive sweating, and cool down internal heat—all common issues for menopausal women dealing with:

  • Hot flashes

  • Night sweats

  • Restlessness due to heat or dryness

This is especially helpful if you tend to feel warm, flushed, or soaked during sleep.

Supports Adrenals and Nervous System

  • Occasional night sweats can be triggered by stress hormones (cortisol/adrenaline), not just hot flashes or hormonal heat.

  • Schisandra calms the HPA axis (stress response) and helps modulate cortisol rhythms, which may reduce those random sweat surges.

Protects and Supports the Liver

  • Regarding candida and histamine issues — Schisandra supports phase I & II liver detox, including histamine clearance.

  • This could mean less histamine overload at night, reducing histamine-triggered wakefulness, overheating, or flushing.

😱 BOMBSHELL😱

Is Olive Oil Really Healthy? A 2025 Study Says Oleic Acid May Promote Fat Gain 😱

A 2025 study published in Cell Reports challenges the long-held belief that olive oil is a universally healthy fat. Researchers found that oleic acid, the main fat in olive oil, triggers the creation of new fat cells, even without excess calories — making it a potential contributor to long-term weight gain.

Key Findings from the Study:

  • Oleic acid promotes the formation of new fat cells in both animals and human cell models, unlike other fats such as stearic acid or coconut oil.

  • Mice fed diets rich in oleic acid gained more fat despite consuming the same number of calories as other groups.

  • High oleic acid levels in the blood were strongly correlated with obesity risk in humans, based on UK Biobank data (out of 249 markers, oleic acid was most linked to excess weight).

  • Oleic acid disrupts mitochondrial function by displacing cardiolipin, a fat essential for energy production — leading to reduced ATP and increased oxidative stress.

What This Means for You:

Even "healthy" oils like olive oil and avocado oil could signal your body to store more fat, particularly if consumed daily. Worse, many store-bought olive oils are adulterated with inflammatory seed oils like soybean or canola — further harming metabolic health.

What to Use Instead:

  • Switch to metabolically stable fats: like grass-fed butter, ghee, or tallow.

  • Avoid seed oils (canola/rapeseed, soybean, corn) and even "high-oleic" versions.

  • Track fat intake the way you would carbs or protein, especially sources of oleic acid.

Conclusion:

This new research suggests that not all fats are equal — and oleic acid, despite its "heart-healthy" label, may actually fuel fat cell creation and disrupt mitochondrial energy. For women over 40 struggling with stubborn fat or metabolic imbalance, it's worth rethinking daily use of olive oil and focusing on stable, traditional fats instead.

Information taken from Mercola.com

Rethinking Olive Oil? So Am I Now!

Well... take it as you will, but I’ve decided to cut back on olive oil — just in case all this talk about oleic acid and fat storage is true! Better safe than sorry, especially when it comes to midlife metabolism and stubborn belly fat.

Dr. Mercola bases his articles on independent scientific research, and I've followed his recommendations for many years. His insights consistently make sense to me, and I've experienced real health benefits from applying his knowledge.

Luckily, I’m already a fan of the good stuff:

Grass-fed butter
Beef tallow and dripping
Ghee
Coconut oil

These healthy, traditional fats support hormone balance, boost energy, and keep me full and satisfied — without messing with my mitochondria!

Ready to upgrade your fats too? Check out more tips for women over 40 who want to lose weight, balance hormones, and feel amazing naturally

Big problem now! What do I put on my salad ???

Going to try this:

Dressing Base:

Try this:

  • 1 Tbsp MCT oil

  • 1 tsp lemon juice or apple cider vinegar with mother

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • Crushed garlic, herbs, or mustard
Shake it up — clean, energizing, and won't mess with your metabolism.

Back to Schisandra — And Guess What? My Night Sweats have nearly all gone!

Back to the topic of Schisandra and night sweats—because wow, I'm seriously loving the results. Since I started using this magical berry, I’ve been waking up less and way more rested.

It’s like my nights are finally cooling down (literally and figuratively), and I’m here for it.

What I didn’t know until this week? There's a right form for the right time of day.

Schisandra powder = more energizing = perfect for daytime use

Schisandra tincture = calming and cooling = ideal before bed

Apparently, the powder supports long-term hormone balance and liver detox, but can be a bit stimulating if taken too late. The tincture, on the other hand, works fast and helps the body chill out and stop those annoying night sweats. Genius!

So now I’m on the hunt for a good organic Schisandra tincture to add to my bedtime routine. Loving the calm, loving the cool, loving the sleep.

Schisandra for Menopause Energy & Night Sweats: Why I’ll Only Take It in the Morning.

Important info regarding Schisandra. If you take too much in the evening it can give you a sleepless night. Guess who made that mistake and learned the hard way?

I was that awake, I could have run a marathon! And won! Never again….. To be on the safe side I’m taking it in the morning. It really does give you energy and help with sweats.

Going to Try Bitters for Vagus Nerve Dysfunction & Gut Motility

I’m going to experiment with digestive bitters! I’ve been digging into vagus nerve dysfunction—that’s when the vagus nerve sends weak or disrupted signals between the brain and organs. It can affect digestion, heart rate, breathing, relaxation, and especially gut motility—basically, it doesn’t give you that natural “urge to go.”

Bitters are supposed to wake up digestion and stimulate the vagus nerve. Just a few drops before a meal can signal the brain–gut connection and help things flow more naturally.

The tricky part? Finding organic, alcohol-free bitters—but I finally got my hands on some.

Can’t wait to try them and see if they help kickstart my digestion the natural way!

My Belly Button Castor Oil Ritual

Let’s talk about something a little quirky but oh-so intriguing: belly button therapy (yes, really!). Also known as Pechoti method in Ayurveda.

The science behind it in Ayurvedic tradition:

The belly button area sits over a dense network of capillaries, blood vessels, and nerve endings connected to the digestive tract, liver, and reproductive organs.

  • It’s thought there’s a Pechoti gland under the navel with ~70,000 nerve endings linking to major organs. While this exact gland isn’t recognized in Western medicine, the concept highlights the belly button as a central “hub.”

  • When oil is applied, the skin there is thin and permeable, allowing some absorption through the capillaries and lymphatic system. This may explain why people notice effects on digestion, hormones, and relaxation.

  • Castor oil in particular is anti-inflammatory and circulatory-stimulating, so applying it in the navel could help improve blood flow, motility, and gentle detoxification.

In short: the navel is a central access point with rich vein and nerve connections, which may explain why oils there can have whole-body effects — even if science hasn’t fully caught up with what Ayurveda already knew 😉

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with it myself. Think of it as giving your navel a wellness treatment — a few drops of oil right where life once began.

My oil of choice? Castor oil. Thick, golden, detox-loving castor oil. Instead of drinking it (no thank you, that’s way too strong for me!), I’ve been putting 2–3 drops (or more) straight into my belly button before bed. I lie down, give it a little gentle massage, and let it soak in while I unwind.

And guess what? This simple ritual is supposed to give:

  • Constipation relief — Digestions feels smoother and, let’s just say, mornings are easier.

  • Hormone & period support — Less cramping and more balance.

  • Relief from bloating & gas — Definitely lighter in the belly.

  • Detox vibes — Castor oil has a reputation for supporting liver health, and I love knowing I’m helping my body cleanse gently.

  • Relaxation — It’s become a calming little self-care moment at night.

Now, do we have double-blind clinical studies proving all this? Not yet. But from my own experience- I’m noticing a difference the next day, if you know what I mean 😉-and centuries of Ayurvedic tradition, I’m convinced there’s something magical about giving the navel a little TLC. Many people swear by it. See how it works for you.😉

And here’s the best part: it’s so easy. Just a few drops, no harsh chemicals, no big expense. Natural, safe (unless you’re pregnant, then skip it!), and deeply grounding.

So yes, my latest midlife wellness experiment is literally oiling my belly button — sometimes the simplest rituals turn out to be the most powerful.

Why I’m Ditching Teflon Forever: My New Ninja Crispi (Non-Toxic Air Fryer Love Story)

Feeling a little giddy today — my brand new Ninja Crispi Air Fryer just arrived. I’d been hunting for a non-toxic air fryer for ages (because honestly, who wants Teflon near their food?), and then I spotted a glowing review on a midlife wellness site. That sealed it — I had to have it.

What makes this different? The Ninja Crispi is designed with glass and ceramic-coated parts instead of toxic non-stick coatings, so it feels way safer for everyday cooking. Plus, it doesn’t just air fry — it crisps, roasts, bakes, reheats, and grills like a mini all-in-one oven.

Basically, it’s the ultimate kitchen shortcut for healthy midlife meals. And it’s soooo pretty! Can’t wait to test it out tonight… 😉 Will report back soon.. .

Loving My New Ninja Crispi: Learning as I Cook!

I’m having so much fun with my new Ninja Crispi air fryer (seriously, where has this been all my life?). So far, salmon and other fish fillets come out perfectly, and burgers are ok. No better no worse than in the oven.

I did experiment with some chicken legs — though they were huge ones, more like hens! — and honestly, not my favourite result. Chips (fries) have been an adventure too. The first round? A little chaotic: half raw, half burnt. 😂 I used grass-fed beef tallow (because yes, in this house we embrace good fats). Anyhoo… the second batch was much better. I stirred it a couple of times during airfrying time.

Like anything new in the kitchen, I think it’s all about practice. Each meal teaches me something new — and I’m excited to keep testing, tasting, and tweaking with my Ninja Crispi!

Candida UTI vs Bacterial UTI: What Women Over 40 Need to Know

I’ve been learning all about this and it’s super important.

When you think of a urinary tract infection (UTI), you probably picture a burning, urgent, and frustrating infection caused by bacteria like E. coli. And while that’s true for most UTIs, did you know that some UTIs are actually caused by Candida yeast instead of bacteria?

For women over 40 — especially those juggling Candida overgrowth, histamine intolerance, or hormone changes during perimenopause and menopause — understanding the difference can be a real game-changer for healing and prevention.

What Is a Candida UTI?

A Candida UTI happens when Candida yeast (most often Candida albicans) overgrows in the urinary tract — bladder, urethra, or even the kidneys.

Normally, Candida lives harmlessly in the gut and vagina, but when your microbiome is out of balance (thanks to antibiotics, high sugar diets, stress, or hormone shifts), it can spread into places it doesn’t belong.

Candida UTI vs Bacterial UTI

  • Most UTIs are bacterial, caused by E. coli or other bacteria.

  • Candida UTIs don’t respond to antibiotics — in fact, antibiotics can make them worse by wiping out protective bacteria and giving yeast free rein.

  • If you’ve had a “mystery UTI” that didn’t clear with antibiotics, it could actually be Candida.

Symptoms to Watch For

Both bacterial and Candida UTIs can cause burning and frequency, but Candida UTIs often bring:

  • Persistent irritation that doesn’t improve with antibiotics

  • Co-existing vaginal yeast symptoms (itching, discharge)

  • A slower, more chronic feeling rather than a sharp, sudden infection

Who’s More at Risk?

Women over 40 are more vulnerable if they have:

  • A history of Candida overgrowth

  • Frequent antibiotic use

  • Diabetes or higher blood sugar

  • Hormone changes (peri/menopause)

  • Weakened immune system

The Bottom Line

Not all UTIs are bacterial. If antibiotics don’t help — or if you’re already dealing with Candida or histamine issues — consider that your UTI could be yeast-based. Getting the right diagnosis matters, because the treatment is very different (antifungals or lifestyle changes, not antibiotics).

Candida Detox Diary: Fighting the Yeast Beast (and Surviving the Die-Off!)

I haven’t been writing much lately because, honestly, this Candida detox is no joke. Every day feels different — one minute I’m fine, the next I’m flattened by die-off fatigue and a headache that feels like a marching band in my skull.

I’ve learned the hard way that if you take too many antifungals, you can end up feeling worse before you feel better. So now I’m going slower on the anti fungals and giving my poor body a fighting chance to catch up.

Right now, I’m using undecylenic acid — wow, that stuff is potent! It completely wiped me out at first, but I’m slowly finding my rhythm again.

Still, I’m determined. I will kill these little yeast buggers if it’s the last thing I do. One day at a time, one binder (or 3 or 4) at a time… and maybe, eventually, one celebration dance when I finally win this Candida battle.

A bit more info on this subject…..

Candida: The Shape-Shifting Yeast You Need to Tame

Did you know that Candida albicans is a total shape-shifter? As Dr. Sarah Myhill explains, this sneaky microbe can switch between two forms depending on the environment in your body — and that’s what makes it so tricky to beat.

  • Yeast form: harmless, single-celled, and peacefully coexisting with your gut flora.

  • Fungal form: invasive, thread-like (called hyphae), and capable of burrowing into tissues, forming biofilms, and releasing toxins that mess with your mood, energy, and immune system.

    What Turns Yeast Into Fungus

Candida doesn’t just “decide” to take over — it responds to your internal terrain. When your defenses are down, it seizes the chance.

Common triggers include:

Too much sugar or refined carbs (fuel for yeast!)

Antibiotics (they wipe out the good bacteria that keep Candida in check)

High estrogen (helps yeast stick and grow)

Stress and cortisol (lower immunity, raise blood sugar)

Heat and moisture (hello, fungal playground)

Once Candida flips into fungal mode, it can pierce the gut lining, form slimy biofilms, and pump out toxins like acetaldehyde — the culprit behind brain fog, fatigue, and that “toxic hangover” feeling.

How to Keep Candida Calm and Contained

You can’t just nuke it — you have to change the terrain so it behaves again.

Here’s how:

Low-carb or carnivore-style diet to starve it out
Natural antifungals like garlic, oregano, or iodine
Binders (charcoal, clay, chlorella) to sweep away toxins
Hormone balance, especially progesterone support
Minerals like zinc, magnesium, and selenium for immunity
Low-histamine eating to reduce inflammation

Why Dr. Myhill’s Approach Works

Dr. Sarah Myhill’s Candida protocol hits both the microbe and the terrain:

  • Diet starves the yeast

  • Iodine (gold/nascent for gentle healing, Lugol’s for strong antifungal action) kills it off. Look up Dr. Myhill’s protocol on iodine.

  • Binders mop up the mess

  • Nutrients strengthen your body so the yeast can’t mutate again

Her philosophy is simple: don’t just fight the invader — fix the environment it thrives in.

Major Midlife Breakthrough: How Bioidentical Progesterone Drops Finally Let Me Sleep, Smile, and Stop Feeling Like a Crazy Person

Let’s just say… I didn’t expect a few drops of something to feel like I’d been upgraded from chaos mode to calm mode. Bear in mind I am doing the Candida detox which is known to affect  the sleep as your liver detoxes at night and then wakes you up.

But I still felt like there was something missing from the puzzle — my sleep still wasn’t as good as I would like (although much improved).

And then I tried micronized bioidentical progesterone drops— the kind Dr. Mercola swears by (on the gums) and Dr. Sarah Myhill uses to calm the storm. I used to use cream form but noticed a differerence when using these by Dr. Michelle Sands at www.glownaturalwellness.com. (No, I don’t get paid to recommend them but I should ;)

………..and BOOOOOOm……..

Within days, I started sleeping like an actual human, my mood lifted, and those jittery estrogen surges just… stopped running the show.

It’s a midlife miracle molecule — gentle, natural, and life-changing.

It’s been 10 days now, I’m taking 10 drops which is high but will try lowering it to a dose that still works.

How Micronized Progesterone Works

Progesterone is a calming, balancing hormone that naturally counteracts many of estrogen’s stimulating effects.

When estrogen is relatively high (or unopposed by enough progesterone), women often experience:

  • Anxiety or restlessness

  • Poor sleep

  • Night sweats

  • PMS-like irritability

  • Fluid retention or breast tenderness

Micronized progesterone helps by restoring hormonal balance — calming the nervous system, improving GABA activity in the brain, and supporting restorative sleep.

Why Dr. Mercola Prefers Micronized and Oral/Gum Absorption Forms

Dr. Mercola recommends micronized progesterone drops applied to the gums (buccal absorption) because:

  • The progesterone enters directly into the bloodstream through the oral mucosa

  • It avoids “first-pass metabolism” in the liver (which happens with pills)

  • You get steadier, more natural absorption — similar to how your body would produce it

Micronization means the progesterone particles are extremely small, improving absorption and bioavailability.

Key Benefits

Improves Sleep Quality

Progesterone boosts GABA, a calming neurotransmitter that helps your brain wind down at night.
→ Many women report deeper, longer, and more restful sleep after starting bioidentical progesterone.

Reduces Night Sweats & Hot Flashes

By balancing estrogen and calming the hypothalamus (your body’s thermostat), it helps regulate temperature and reduce those sudden heat surges.

Calms Anxiety & Irritability

It acts almost like nature’s gentle tranquilizer — promoting relaxation without sedation or addiction.

Supports Brain Function & Memory

Progesterone has neuroprotective effects — it helps stabilize brain cells, reduce inflammation, and protect against cognitive decline.

Balances Estrogen’s Effects

Estrogen stimulates tissue growth; progesterone balances it out.
That means less bloating, less breast tenderness, and lower risk of estrogen dominance–related issues.

Important Notes

  • Dr. Mercola (and many functional doctors) typically suggests using progesterone in the evening — since it’s naturally calming and supports sleep.

  • It’s essential to use bioidentical progesterone only, not synthetic progestins (like those in birth control), which behave very differently.

  • Always start with a low dose and adjust with guidance — too much can cause grogginess or dizziness.

Candida Detox Update: Finally Feeling Human Again (and Sleeping Like One Too!)

It’s happening — I’m finally feeling better during this wild Candida detox ride! My head’s clearer (only slightly hangover-ish now 🙃), my energy’s coming back, and I’m sleeping so much better.

I’m giving full credit to 3 big helpers:

1-Bioidentical progesterone drops — absolute game-changer for my sleep and sanity.

2-Iodine — the mineral Dr. Sarah Myhill swears we’re all deficient in. I’ve started supplementing, and honestly, I think she’s right.

3-Liposomal Vitamin C - (I’m taking 3 to 5g ). I take it up to tolerance level, that means, the highest dose your body can handle before it causes loose stools — a sign you’ve reached tissue saturation and can’t absorb more at that moment.

-Neutralises toxins from yeast die-off. Potent antioxidant and detoxifier. Helps your liver convert acetaldehyde into harmless acetic acid and supports phase II detox pathways, where toxins are neutralised and excreted.

-Die-off causes an inflammatory cascade — your immune system sees toxins and goes into attack mode. Vitamin C scavenges free radicals and calms that inflammatory response, easing symptoms like body aches, sinus pressure, and irritability.

-Supports immune balance- High-dose vitamin C supports white blood cell activity and modulates overactive immune reactions, helping your system fight the yeast without overreacting. That means fewer “detox crashes” and steadier energy as the antifungals do their job.

For the first time in ages, my body feels like it’s coping with the die-off instead of waving a white flag. I can even increase my antifungal dose without feeling like I’ve been hit by a truck. Give me strength… and more liposomal vitamin C!

Note:

Too much Vitamin C can cause digestive upset or diarrhea (your body’s signal you’ve reached your limit).

  1. People with kidney disease, iron-storage disorders, or G6PD deficiency should avoid high doses unless guided by a clinician.

  2. Always build up gradually and divide doses through the day to maintain steady levels.

And because I refuse to live without bread (even on a Candida detox), I finally learned how to make Dr. Myhill’s PK Diet bread — low-carb, gut-friendly, and surprisingly delicious. It takes 10 minutes to make!!!!
(Recipe coming soon!)

This little glimpse of feeling better is all the motivation I needed to keep going. There’s light (and sleep) at the end of the Candida tunnel!

1st October

Dr. Sarah Myhill’s PK(Paleo Keto) Diet Bread Recipe — Low-Carb, Candida-Friendly.

(Not exciting but nice, once you put something tasty on it like a pate or something)

If you’ve been missing bread on your Candida or low-carb journey — this one’s a lifesaver.

Dr. Sarah Myhill’s PK Diet Bread fits perfectly into her Paleo-Ketogenic protocol: high in healthy fats, rich in protein, and completely free from grains, gluten, and sugar.

It’s nourishing, energy-steadying, and doesn’t feed Candida — finally, a bread that loves your gut back.

Why It Works

  • Zero grains = no gluten or starch to spike blood sugar or feed yeast

  • Packed with healthy fats and fiber = stable energy, no crashes

  • Full of nutrients your mitochondria (and mood) adore

Dr Sarah Myhill’s PK Diet Bread (authentic recipe)

Source: The PK Cookbook / Hammersmith Books.

Ingredients

  • 250 g whole linseed (flaxseed)

  • 1/2 or 1 teaspoon sea salt, himalayan salt or her (“Sunshine salt” if you use that)

  • 270 ml water

  • Fat for greasing the tin (coconut oil, lard or preferred animal fat)

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C / 430°F.

  2. Grind the linseed: Split the 250 g linseed into two roughly equal batches. Grind the first half with the teaspoon of salt until a fine meal (about 20–30 seconds in a NutriBullet / grinder). Pour into your mixing bowl. Grind the second half the same way and add to the bowl.

  3. Add water: Pour all 270 ml water into the linseed mixture and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until it becomes sticky and gathers together into one lump.

  4. Grease the tin: Grease a loaf tin with your chosen fat. With greased hands, shape the sticky dough into the tin (takes about 30 seconds). Do not knead — simply press it into the tin.

  5. Rest briefly (a minute or two) so the linseed soaks the water evenly.

  6. Bake: Place in the hot oven and bake for 60 minutes at 220°C / 430°F.

  7. Cool: Turn out and cool on a wire rack. The loaf firms as it cools — wait before slicing.

Storage & Serving

  • Keeps in the fridge about a week.

  • Slice and freeze portions for convenience.

  • Toast or fry thin slices briefly in a little fat for extra crunch. Great with eggs, smoked fish, pâté, nut butter,  normal butter or avocado.

Notes / Why it works

  • Single-ingredient base (linseed) keeps carbs very low and provides excellent healthy fats and fibre — ideal for Myhill’s Paleo-Ketogenic approach.

  • Do not try to replace the linseed quantity with other flours without adjusting liquid, time, and texture — the PK loaf relies on flax’s water-binding.

Why I Love It

This bread keeps me full for hours, doesn’t trigger cravings, and doesn’t mess with my Candida protocol.
It’s hearty, wholesome, and exactly what I needed to feel normal again while still healing my gut.

Detox Progress Update: Weddings, Dancing & Gut Healing Wins

I have news! Another wedding in the family — and with it, a little phase of stress, celebration, and a full dance weekend (classes all day and three late nights on the dance floor!). So yes, another short pause in my Candida detox plan.

The good news? My body handled it so much better this time. The gut problems, brain fog, headache and sleep problems weren’t so bad, and I’m also reacting much less to antifungals. That’s a clear sign that my gut is healing, my histamine levels are stabilizing, and the Candida overgrowth is finally dying off properly — the b******!

Right now, I’m supporting my progress with three of my favourite gut-healing allies:

Undecylenic Acid

This is a powerful natural antifungal derived from castor oil. It’s known to attack Candida at the root, helping break down the yeast’s biofilm and destroy the fungal “roots” that cling to your intestinal walls. It’s stronger than caprylic acid and helps restore balance to the gut microbiome while reducing symptoms like sugar cravings, bloating, and fatigue.

Saccharomyces boulardii

A beneficial probiotic yeast (yes, a good yeast that fights the bad ones!). It helps crowd out Candida, rebalance the gut flora, and support healthy immune responses. S. boulardii is especially useful during antifungal treatment because it helps prevent die-off reactions and supports regular digestion while keeping Candida under control.

MegaSporeBiotic

This is one of the most effective spore-based probiotics available. It helps repair the gut barrier, improve nutrient absorption, and calm inflammation — all crucial for women over 40 dealing with Candida, histamine intolerance, or leaky gut. Unlike many probiotics, these hardy spores survive stomach acid, meaning they actually reach the intestines alive to help rebalance your microbiome long-term.

I’m also taking toxaprevent (zeolite) capsules and sachets daily to bind toxins.

(See what else I am taking during this detox program).

So yes — even with weddings, late nights, and a few detours, I can feel my body getting stronger and more resilient every week. My gut is healing, my energy’s coming back, and I finally feel like I’m winning the fight against Candida and towards healing the gut (and enjoying life while doing it!).

20th October

Sleeping Better, Feeling Calmer — and Finally Seeing the Light at the End of the Detox Tunnel!

Lately, I’ve been sleeping so much better, and I have to give credit where it’s due — the bioidentical progesterone drops I use on my gums have been a total game-changer. They help me feel calmer at night, balance my hormones, and actually switch off when I go to bed.

It also helps that I’m no longer having those intense Candida die-off (Herxheimer) reactions — you know, the headaches, fatigue, insomnia and irritability that come when toxins start leaving the body. My system’s definitely coping better now, which means my gut, hormones, and histamine levels are finally starting to sync up.

Things also running more smoothly in the gut area- if you get my drift ;)

Everything’s slowly falling into place — and I can honestly see a light at the end of the tunnel although I know I’m not there yet.  I’ve decided to stay on my detox protocol until Christmas, and then… that’s it. Finito!

My Favourite Guilt-Free Treat That Keeps Me Full for Hours (Low Histamine + Candida Safe)

I just realised I’ve never shared my favourite little treat — the one that totally satisfies those after-lunch or after-dinner sweet cravings!

It’s my chia seed pudding, and it’s honestly the easiest thing ever.

Here’s how I make it:

Soak chia seeds in water for at least an hour (but if you’re impatient like me, you can enjoy it right away — it just won’t be as thick). Add a touch of stevia, a big sprinkle of vanilla powder, and 2 or 3 raw organic egg yolks for creamy richness and staying power. Raspberries or blueberries for added perfection. Mix well and enjoy!

It’s low-carb, high in protein and good fats, and perfect for anyone healing from Candida overgrowth, histamine sensitivity, or blood sugar swings

The best part? You can play around with it — try kefir instead of water, or top with a few fresh blueberries or raspberries for extra flavor and antioxidants.

Healthy, delicious, and totally guilt-free — my kind of dessert!

Feeling better every week is the best motivation there is.

On this journey to wellness,

😊
